Homestead Blue Mountain

Fall/Winter Update

October 30, 2020

Life in Zone 5 is full of surprises. Our last dahlia of the season, a cafe au lait tuber that produced pink flowers as it sometimes happens, is featured on the home page against a cloudy October sky. Three days of light frost in late September, and a full on frost in early October shut things down earlier than we expected in our little corner of the Hudson Valley. The fields are now lying in wait for the 2021 projects that lie ahead, including an increased variety of flower and grass production, and more vegetables and herbs.

We don't want to go from November till June without flowers, and neither should you. Select blooms will be imported during this time and available for local delivery. If you have a special request, or require something specific for an occasion, do not hesitate to contact us as we have access to a wide variety of floral products year round.

Our instagram, featured below, is the best way to keep tabs on our latest offerings. In the meantime, we look forward to bringing you more Homestead Blue Mountain grown flowers in approximately 213 days and counting.....

About Us

Family owned farmland in Saugerties, New York. We raised grass fed black angus cattle here from the late 1960s till the mid 1980s. Since then, our fields have been fallow but well maintained with no use of dangerous chemicals or pesticides ever.

The land was purchased from Italian farmers Sammy and Rosie who lived across the street. I remember hanging out with them in the 1980s while my mom was running errands, eating bugles out of a glass jar and drinking water from a bucket drawn up from their "wishing well". Running along the stone walls, playing store, hunting for artifacts, observing the flora and fauna, and exploring the woods. That's Hudson Valley living.

We are now producing cut flowers, herbs and a small assortment of vegetables for 2020, with plans to expand from there. Our soil and crops are minimally treated, only using OMRI listed interventions when necessary.

We are offering delivery to Saugerties, Kingston, Woodstock, Catskill, Hudson & Rhinebeck with $25 minimum order.
